Our mission is the advancement of the practice and profession of clinical social work in Maryland. Key strategies of our mission are:

Promote high standards for practice through continuous examination and discussion of clinical, ethical, and legal issues.

Advocate for legislation and public policy of interest to the profession and the public it serves.

Educate the public about the unique qualifications and diverse professional activities of clinical social workers and make available to prospective social workers information concerning professional opportunities in clinical social work.

Support high standards for clinical training in social work education.

Foster the personal and professional development of clinical social workers through providing opportunities for mentorship, networking, continuing education, and consultation.

Advance the body of clinical social work knowledge through research and publication.

The Maryland Society for Clinical Social Work is a professional organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of clinical social workers in all practice settings and at all stages of their careers so that they may best serve their clients and the general public. The Society is committed to responding to the wants and advocating for the needs of a diverse membership regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

As part of its mission, the MSCSW presents first-rate educational opportunities for professional development at reduced rates. We offer social events that provide opportunities for referrals as well as an exchange of information, and we advocate for legislation and public policy on professional and mental health issues that support and protect clinical social workers and their clients.
